meant to post this interesting ny times article on hymen restoration surgery a while back. some muslim women are required to have a “certificate of virginity” prior to marrying a muslim man. of course, the men are not required (or, rather, unable) to show any such certificate. regardless of the limitations on testing male virginity, my fave quote in the article is still “the man is the biggest of all the donkeys”
